Robert Beck tells his twisted story of his journey to being a pimp and eventually leaving the game. The slang he uses was so new to me I had no idea what he was going on about until he painted a better picture and still I had difficulty, so the glossary helps a lot. My favourite is scratch which means money.
Summary:
Start with his dad throwing him at the wall when he was just about 2 months. His mother was a loose woman and since they were from the south they were a bit green. I think my post on hip hop history gives a better picture on the north and south issue. Anyway so before he was even 20 he was already a pimp but he wanted to be the best and had to go to be in the right place and learn the right stuff. Prison and the pimp of pimps called Sweet taught him the most. Sweet told him about the unwritten book on pimping that the pimp godfathers ‘wrote’. Lots of bad words, drugs and putting foots in bitches asses. How his moniker changed from Blood (Young Blood) to Iceberg Slim. So many twists and turns and the part where he straightens out a hanger to whip one of his moneymakers even had me winching and twisting in bed.
Apparently a lot of people see this book as the bible on pimping and see Iceberg as the real pimp godfather. Big up Dave Chappelle for the recommendation.
