Deal with the difficult while it’s still easy. Deal with the big while it’s still small. It’s all easy and small in the present. You are powerful enough to change it. But if you say I’ll see tomorrow, there is no hurry. I will see to the problem. The problem is growing and taking roots. You have been postponing for lives. And then you come to me and you say you’d like to be silent, peaceful. And for many lives you’ve been postponing problems. A great surgery is needed… and you are in such a hurry again. Few people meditate 4-5 days and say nothing is happening yet. Can’t you see the ridiculousness of it. Your garden is no more there. Only weeds. And suddenly you want to have a beautiful lawn… it will take time. The weeds have to be thrown out. The roots and seeds thrown, soil changed. But you can do at least one thing… live moment to moment so you don’t gather more nonsense around you. At least clean one part of the garden. And once you know how problems get difficult and how you can tackle them easily in the start… it has to be learnt.

Just start being alert. When you see a problem arising… look at it. Sometimes just a smile can change it, a laugh. Sometimes nothing will be needed… just the attention like dew drops disappear when the sun comes up. It’s so small and you are so vast. You can delight in it, enjoy it. Then life becomes a drama, if you understand life you will never make promises. Promise is a postponement. You will say I don’t know I’ll see tomorrow.

A lovely story in the Mahabharat. 5 brothers sitting a beggar comes and ask Yudhistir for just bread or chapati. And as it is you’d like to postpone to a beggar. You don’t want to be rude and want to protect your great images so like that he said come tomorrow. His other brother started laughing and ran out of the house with laughter. Yudhistir asked where are you going… he said I’m going to tell the town that my brother has conquered time. He said to the beggar come tomorrow. Yudhistir realised how can I say tomorrow… I may not be here, the beggar may not be here tomorrow. Yudhistir caught the beggar and gave me whatever he could and dropped the habit of promising. Promising is only possible if tomorrow is certain.

A great Chinese story. King is angry at the Prime Minister for something and orders the Prime Minister to be sentence to death. It was the tradition that before a killing the king has to visit for last wishes. The Prime Minister is brave and wise. When the king game the Prime Minister started crying. The king asked if he’s afraid of death. The Prime Minister said death is not the issue… it’s something else but anyway it’s too late to do it. The king asked and said he promised to fulfil the last desire as you served the kingdom long. So the Prime Minister said this is a long story. When I was young I was with an enlightened and he taught me one secret… that there are few type of horses that can be taught to fly. And I’ve been searching for one and look at fate… the horse you’ve come on is the right horse and tomorrow I’ll be dead. And the secret science will go with me. The king asked how long will it take to teach it? No other king in the world can claim it. Prime Minister said it’ll take one year. King said if the king flies you’ll get married to my daughter and share the kingdom half half. The man took the horse home to wife and children. They were crying. They could not believe their eyes. They thought they must be dreaming. The wife knew he did not know anything like that. Why couldn’t you ask for 20-50 years at least. The man said don’t worry anyone can die… king, horse… you never know. (laughter)

Don’t say anything about the future… it’s not certain. At the most this moment you can be certain. One who lives without postponing lives such a simple life that his faith grows. His trust grows, truth, grace, etc grows. He becomes a passage for the divine.
